“Warning: Bad Kitty Children’s Books by Nick Bruel

This is what happens when you move from a classical academic curriculum based on an education of opportunity – Reading, Writing, Math and History, to a collectivist based education of equity – Attitudes, Values and Beliefs.

When you allow our public education to be about values, attitudes and beliefs the question becomes- Whose values, attitudes and beliefs?

By Donna Garner

1.10.15 – EXCERPTS FROM FACEBOOK — UPSET TEXAS MOTHER WHO HAS YOUNG SON:

 It’s everywhere!

Nick Bruel AgendaI’m finding it (Common Core philosophy) all the way down to my child’s library book he took home from school, aimed right at my son’s age level of reading!  The popular book series “Bad Kitty” by author Nick Bruel (From New York City) adds the Liberal agenda subtly and when my son and I were reading one of his books “Bad Kitty Christmas” together last night, I was ticked off when I read a part Nick Bruel wrote about Christmas being about Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and EID (Islam) and about family (and he included within that “family” description the alternative choice of the two women partners and their offspring child where obviously the child is not an “offspring” product of the two women!) but he did not mention what CHRISTmas is all about in the first place and that is about Jesus CHRIST’s birthday! (He NEVER mentioned JESUS CHRIST!)

The Year we thought about LoveWhen I found this author’s Facebook page [Nick Bruel], and went through it of course, I found that he is a very proud Liberal (and I believe probably a so called “married” homosexual too because he has made a cartoon profile picture of “Bad Kitty holding a = sign” and he has “liked” some homosexual pages.)

This man [Nick Bruel] openly mocks Conservatives and Christians and this man is WRITING and ILLUSTRATING children’s books that end up in OUR KID’s public schools!!

Nick Bruel, Hubba HubbaOur kids are being exposed to political left leaning agenda EARLY and so as they grow up they don’t think it’s wrong and as a result think it’s all normal. I had to explain to my son that what he wrote in that book was wrong and against God and his Word, The Holy Bible.

I’m SICKENED that I have to watch EVERY single move that is going on with my son at school but I am not able to see everything that he’s seeing while AT school without parental supervision for me to explain it to him.

The only reason he picked that book in the first place is because he loves cats and agenda’s like that should NOT be in kids’ books!!

As I said above, when you allow our public education to be about values, attitudes and beliefs the question becomes- Whose values, attitudes and beliefs?

Perfect example: Are you okay with the Islamic conference “Stand with the Prophet” in Garland,Tx? Their convention is being held on Garland ISD property.

Interesting to note- A person living a homosexual lifestyle based on Nick Bruel’s attitudes, values, and beliefs would not have equal rights under Shariah Law which is the belief of some of those involved in the  “Ready to Defeat Islamophia?” event.

Shariah: Under dhimmi laws enforced in modern Shariah states, Jews, Christians and other non-Muslims are not equal to Muslims before the law. Under Shariah law, women, girls, apostates, homosexuals and “blasphemers” are all denied equality under the law.”

Truth in Texas Textbooks Coalition

Dear Garland Independent School District Board Members, Superintendents and Staff,

I’m writing in opposition to the upcoming use of the Curtis Culwell Center, a Garland Independent School District Property for an upcoming event that is being sponsored by groups that have connections to known terrorists organizations and that are a threat to the United States.

Truth in Texas Textbooks Coalition is a group that is concerned about the education of our children in Texas. The Culwell Center will be host to a group of individuals who are not interested in facts but in promoting an agenda that is clearly harmful to our children, limiting free speech. TTT supports their right to speak and assemble but not in a taxpayer funded facility due to the nature of their message.

This event is being held on January 17, 2015 at 5 PM and sponsored by The Sound Vision Foundation in which four speakers are speaking on the topic of “Ready to Defeat Islamophia?”<http://www.soundvision.com/events/newyork/> .

I urge each of you to reconsider the use of these facilities by this group and individuals and cut all ties to this event immediately. Allowing the use of the facilities is a misuse of taxpayer funds and the biographies of the individuals below explains why.
Iman Siraj Wahhaj- [NYC Muslims await guidance from their religious leaders about …]

The Imam of At-Taqwa is SirajWahhaj, who appeared on a list of unindictedco-conspirators in the trial of the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center.[1]<http://www.investigativeproject.org/case/409#_ftn1> Wahhaj provided testimony during the trial to defend the Blind Sheikh, Omar Abdel-Rahman, the former leader of the Egyptian terrorist organization, Gama’aal-Islamiyya. Rahman was found guilty of “conspiracy to murder President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt,” “solicitation to attack a military installation,” and of bombing conspiracy related to a plot to bomb the New York FBI headquarters along with tunnels and other landmarks.[2] <http://www.investigativeproject.org/case/409#_ftn2> During Wahhaj’s testimony, he called the Sheik a “respected scholar,” also calling him “bold, as a strong preacher of Islam.”[3]<http://www.investigativeproject.org/case/409#_ftn3>

In 1991 in N. Texas he was quoted as saying the following:

“Where ever you came from, you came to America. And you came for one reason- for one reason only – to establish Allah’s deen.”[4]<http://www.investigativeproject.org/case/409#_ftn4>

“Deen” in Islam is defined in this use “Allah’s Islam”.

With the number of Muslims and other immigrants coming to Texas, is this what taxpayer funded facilities should be used for?

Again, we are not against their right to speak in such a manner, in fact we hope the event will occur so the public can judge for themselves but clearly taxpayer funded facilities should not house such an event.

Read full report on him at this link.<http://www.investigativeproject.org/case/409>

An organization he current serves with is the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago.

His signature on a letter from COIOGC also signed by Muslim Brotherhood connected organizations (Council on American Islamic Relations, Islamic Society of North America to name a few) was sent to the White House and resulted in the removal of all references, true or not, to Islam, Muslims, terrorism or the war on terror within any training materials of the FBI, Homeland Security, and eventually branches of the military.

All briefings were scrubbed to delete any references to any connections that put Islam in a negative light. As a result our first responders and defenders of our freedoms are denied the truth about the causes and sources of national security threats inside and outside our borders. Reported in Breitbart News 2014.<http://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2014/08/20/usg-muslim-groups-protest/>
Abdul MalikMujahid [Abdul Malik Mujahid, chair of the Council of Islamic Organizations of …]

Former President of Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA). Imam Abdul MalikMujahid is the founding Chairman of Sound Vision Foundation, the leading producer<http://www.soundvision.com/about/dallasnews.asp> of educational content on Islam and Muslims. Sound Vision was started on 5/9/1991 by the ICNA. It is also the sponsor for the event.

ICNA was founded in 1971 by Muslim Student Association that was begun by the Muslim Brotherhood when it arrived in the US in 1963.

Two branches of ICNA, ICNA Relief USA and ICNA Relief Canada are two top donors to a charity in Pakistan that presented $99,000 of money to Hamas. Mujahid served in leadership capacities with ICNA in 2006 when these funds raised and distributed. Lord Nazir Ahmed [Lord Nazir Ahmed suspended for ‘remarks against Jews’]

In 2012,<http://www.investigativeproject.org/3536/british-lord-puts-bounty-on-american-presidents> the first Muslim nobleman in England was suspended from his political party following reports<http://globalspin.blogs.time.com/2012/04/16/suspended-british-lord-denies-offering-a-bounty-for-obama-and-bush/> that he put a bounty on Presidents Obama and Bush during a speech Sunday in Pakistan.

Stating a bounty should be placed on the heads of President Obama and Bush should disqualify participation by Lord Ahmed or anyone in any event held in a public school anywhere in the US but particularly Texas.

Lord Nazir Ahmed was quoted <http://tribune.com.pk/story/364863/sterling-bounty-offered-for-obama-bush/> as saying as recently as 2012 the following:

“If the US can announce a reward of $10 million for the captor of Hafiz Saeed, I can announce a bounty of 10 million pounds on President Obama and his predecessor George Bush,” Lord Nazir said, adding that he would arrange the bounty at any cost even if he was left with the option of selling all his personal assets, including his house.
Professor John Esposito, Georgetown University[http://www18.georgetown.edu/data/images/faculty/187.jpg]

Just a few highlights from a report http://www.investigativeproject.org/documents/misc/304.pdf>that shows Professor Esposito’s propensity to be soft on known terrorists organizations and individuals. His Georgetown University department was one of the original grantees of money provided by the Saudi government ($30B in the last 20 years) to support Middle East Studies departments, Islamic centers, mosques and other Wahabbi trained staffed facilities around the country. Georgetown has been one of the major recipients of these grants from Saudi Arabia.
* The professor has made repeated statements defending the terrorist organizations Hamas and Hizballah. A 2006 article published in the Arabic newspaper Al-Sharqal-Awsat quoted him as saying, “some object to sitting at the same table to engage in a dialogue with Hamas or Hizballah but I see no problem with that.”

* Esposito has worked with, or defended, three entities which comprised the “Palestine Committee<http://www.investigativeproject.org/documents/case_docs/717.pdf#page=6>,” a U.S-based committee established to help Hamas politically and financially. He appeared as a defense expert<http://www.investigativeproject.org/799/hlf-defense-expert-offers-alternate-interpretations> witness in the 2008 trial of the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development (HLF), repeatedly appears at fundraisers for CAIR — a group whose two key founders participated in a secret 1993 meeting called to discuss ways to derail the new Oslo Peace Accord — and co-sponsored a conference with the UASR. UASR was created by Hamas deputy political director MousaAbuMarzook and directed by Ahmed Yousef, now the Hamas spokesman in Gaza.

* Esposito also defended the Tunisian political group An-Nahda, also known as the Renaissance Party. An-Nahda is outlawed in Tunisia for its use of violence.

* Esposito has praised Yusufal-Qaradawi<http://www.investigativeproject.org/profile/167>, a spiritual leader of the Muslim Brotherhood known for his militant religious rulings and political commentary in support of terrorism and suicide bombings, as well as his fatwa stating that Muslims killed while fighting American forces in Iraq are martyrs. Commenting on suicide bombings in April 2001 Qaradawi said, “they are not suicide operations…these are heroic martyrdom operations.”

In spite of such rhetoric, in a 2003 article in the Boston Review, Esposito included Qaradawi on a list of religious scholars with a “reformist interpretation of Islam and its relationship to democracy, pluralism and human rights.”

The organization I lead, Truth in Texas Textbooks Coalition<http://truthintexastextbooks.com/> just conducted a review of 32 social studies textboooks for accuracy and truth.

In many cases we found multiple errors relating to the portrayal and explanation of Islam , its history (no reference to Islam or Muslim when describing the 9/11 attacks, 1983 Marine barracks bombing in Lebanon, Barbary War, etc) and a failure to say clearly these Islamic terrorists are following the teachings of Muhammad. Our reviews can be found at thislink<http://truthintexastextbooks.com/texas-book-reviews/>.

In Europe citizens who are making such claims<http://www.legal-project.org/issues/european-hate-speech-laws> are being fined and imprisoned for merely stating what Islamic scholars have said and what the Islamic core documents (Quran, Hadiths, the Sunna…the stories describing the life of Muhammad) state clearly.

President Abdel al-Sisi of Egypt said on Jan 1, 2015 that Islam must reform.
From Investors.com article:<http://news.investors.com/ibd-editorials/010515-733240-egypt-president-abdel-fattah-al-sisi-speech-calls-for-major-reforms.htm>

“It’s inconceivable,” said al-Sisi, as translated by Raymond Ibrahim’s blog, “that the thinking that we hold most sacred should cause the entire umma (Islamic world) to be a source of anxiety, danger, killing and destruction for the rest of the world.”

“Is it possible,” he asked, “that 1.6 billion (Muslims) should want to kill the rest of the world’s inhabitants — that is 7 billion — so that they themselves may live?” Islam needs a “religious revolution,” he concluded.

Was the President of Egypt practicing “hate-speech” by calling for reform and discussion?

Today’s attack in Paris on the editor and artists at a media outlet that published offensive Islamic cartoons should be a warning to everyone, “Islam does teach retribution against those who criticize Islam.”

Clearly not all Muslims believe in that logic. Their opinions are irrelevant however because there is a sizable number (Pew Research showed approximately 200-300 million) of Muslims worldwide who do believe violence is justified sometimes in the name of Islam.

Why? One clear reason is below.

Muhammad believed consequences should apply to those who spoke ill of Islam, i.e. “hate-speech”. Muhammad ordered many assassinations of “poets” (equivalent to the press today) and others who spoke ill of him or Islam.
* Al-Nadr bin al-Harith in 622 AD mocked Muhammad in Mecca and was beheaded by Muhammad’s son in 624 as a result of his criticism of Muhammad.

* Uqba bin AbuMuayt also mocked Muhammad and met the same fate at the Battle of Badr in 624 AD.

This article <http://answering-islam.org/Authors/Arlandson/dead_poets.htm> highlights eight other non-Muslims who criticized Muhammad who were assassinated, just as the editor and cartoonists were murdered today in Paris.

It is not hate speech to describe the “facts” associated with Islam that are made by Islamic scholars dating back 1400 years and less.

This appeal by The Sound Vision Foundation to stamp out “Islamophobia” does not include these examples and rest assure these examples won’t be brought up and never are when addressing the issue of islamophobia or bigoted “hate-speech”.

The goal of this event is to build support and the logic to muffle honest debate by those who wish to have only one side of Islam presented.

These critics will claim “hate speech” is causing major increases of “hate-crimes” against Muslims from years past. On balance the FBI statistics don’t show this to be occurring.
* Of the 5,928 incidents<http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/hate-crime/2013/tables/1tabledatadecpdf/table_1_incidents_offenses_victims_and_known_offenders_by_bias_motivation_2013.xls> of hate crime tabulated in 2013, 135 (2.3 percent) were anti-Islamic, an increase of five over the prior year<http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/hate-crime/2012/tables-and-data-declarations/1tabledatadecpdf/table_1_incidents_offenses_victims_and_known_offenders_by_bias_motivation_2012.xls> but still slightly below the annual average of 139<http://www.islamist-watch.org/12057/hate-crime-stats-deflate-islamophobia-myth> from 2002 to 2011.

* The small rise in recorded anti-Islamic incidents could be attributable to improved data collection rather than a true uptick. Reports submitted by law enforcement agencies covered a population of 295 million Americans in 2013<http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/hate-crime/2013/tables/12tabledatadecpdf/table_12_agency_hate_crime_reporting_by_state_2013.xls>, 18.6 percent higher than in 2012<http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/hate-crime/2012/tables-and-data-declarations/12tabledatadecpdf/table_12_agency_hate_crime_reporting_by_state_2012.xls>.

* There were 1,031 incidents<http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/hate-crime/2013/tables/1tabledatadecpdf/table_1_incidents_offenses_victims_and_known_offenders_by_bias_motivation_2013.xls> inspired by religion last year, 625 (60.6 percent) of which were anti-Jewish. Anti-Islamic ones constituted just 13.1 percent. (Jews were 4 times more likely to be attacked for religion than Muslims!)

Full article can be found here. <http://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/press-releases/fbi-releases-2013-hate-crime-statistics>

Why not offer up the same lineup of speakers and also invite Brigitte Gabriel, Robert Spencer, NabeelQuerishi, Pastor Mark Durie or many others who will provide proper balance on the topic of free speech, hate speech/crimes and speaking about Islam?

Other sites could be easily found and should be used by the Foundation if they wish to continue with the present lineup of speakers. They certainly have a right to assemble but not in a facility that Garland taxpayers are paying for.

Having a taxpayer funded public school facility host four individuals who have supported and been connected to groups that promote hate against Israel, non-Muslims, and anti-democratic values is not warranted and should not be allowed.

Thank you for your time.
